3 Kisses Interview

BIO (Taken From Bands Facebook Page):

"Alaskan grown, energetic front woman Tish Meeks and her hard-hitting band 3 Kisses have performed in front of more than a thousand live audiences with crowds of up to 35,000 people, wrenching out their crisp, thought provoking, and well-written pop-punk/hard rock style of music. Strong, gritty, with a tone that is tailor-made for the rock industry, 3 Kisses is the next big thing.

3 Kisses is coming up on their 5th studio album release in Alaska, “Read ‘Em & Weep” – a visionary, savage, voyage that delivers 11 of the hardest rocking tunes from the band to date. Drew Owens shreds with impeccable guitar and bass skills, both of which he wrote and tracked for the album. Dale Payne’s hard hitting drum lines deliver a smack to the face as he provides the album’s precision point rhythm. Powerful front woman, Tish Meeks, delivers the bands intelligent lyrics and tantalizing melodies that have become her signature trademark.

Coming off the successful 2016 release of “Angels Bleed Black” the party punk anthem, “Lovesick Ending” is a standard for any 3 Kisses show and possesses the hooky, sing-a-long qualities that the band is known for. Chart topper? Probably, evidenced by the energy of the crowd in the video for this track, “Lovesick Ending” is sure to be worthy of any musical charts. Reminding you that 3 Kisses band members have hard rock roots, “Shot Down 1000 Chances” is a pure hard rock explosion that will certainly get your blood pumping, fists pumping, and legs jumping. Speaking of backgrounds, Owens’ metal background shines in many of these tunes and the collaboration with Meeks magically ignites the diversity of the two writers, creating a perfect union. There is nothing better than a band that surprises you at every turn with a new batch of tunes, shocking your ear holes with how much better they are than the last.

And shock you, they will, with the release of “Read ‘Em & Weep” which has been named by Metal Nexus as one of the most anticipated releases of 2017. Metal Nexus was given the exclusive rights to drop the album’s single “Dead Man’s Hand” which is a heavy, driving, tune with a level of intensity featuring surprise vocal’s from lead guitarist, Owens.

This band is setting out on an ambitious journey this year that begins with opening for Billboard chart topper, Beasto Blanco, in Anchorage, AK, followed by a slew of Texas performances in March including multiple showcases during SXSW and shows in surrounding cities, including Houston and San Antonio. Finally, 3 Kisses heads to the East Coast in May 2017 for a 36 date tour of the East Coast, South, and Midwest in support of “Read ‘Em & Weep.” 3 Kisses is one act you simply don’t want to miss."

Author N. A. Foy: How old were you when you decided to pursue a career in music, and were there any particular musicians or singers that inspired you?

Tish: I've played music my entire life. I started on piano when I was seven, played saxophone in high school in marching, concert, and jazz band, and finally picked up guitar when I was about 24. I didn't start 3 Kisses until my early thirties. I was kind of a late bloomer for starting a rock band. I listen to a ton of music that inspires me. Bits and pieces of various artists bleed into my writing, but there is nothing specific. I don't want to sound like anyone else. I just write how I write.

Author N. A. Foy: Do you have a release date for your new album “Read ‘Em & Weep?

Tish: "Read 'Em & Weep" was released in June. It's now available on iTunes and on our website at

Author N. A. Foy: How was the recording process for the new album?

Tish: Recording is always a lot of fun. I've been working with the same producer for my past 7 albums (Eric LaBrosse at Cherry Pit Studios). Eric is also one of my closest friends, so he really 'gets' my sound and what I'm trying to achieve.

Author N. A. Foy: How would you describe the sound on your new album?

Tish: Overall, this is my heaviest album. It is darker, more driving, and more intense than previous albums. Most of the songs are in minor keys which is an unusual segway for us.

Author N. A. Foy: If you had only a few minutes in an elevator to describe your band, what would you say?

Tish: It's a big metal pot of punk rock stew.

Author N. A. Foy: What are some things you like to do for enjoyment when you are not doing music?

Tish: I spend time with my kids. We all play music together for fun. I travel as much as I can, which is not as often as I'd like. I also spend time with friends, read, keep up with my horror flick obsession, research ancestry – I have a lot of other interests.

Author N. A. Foy: If you were stuck on an island and somehow were able to listen to music, what 3 CDs would you want with you?

Tish: Wow. That's tough. Probably a Volbeat album, Avenged Sevenfold album, and Ghost album. That's as close as I can get. Just narrowing down those 3 bands is difficult.

Author N. A. Foy: Out of the lyrics you perform so far, is there a particular one that you like best? Is there a story behind it?

Tish: I don't really have one favorite. There are stories behind all of my songs and they each mean something special to me. I dig the lyrics for "Stay" off the new album. They are pretty personal.

Author N. A. Foy: Us fans always like to know things about the band members. How about some favorites. What is your favorite color? Number? Foods? Movie(s)? Book(s)? Or any other favorites you want to mention?

Tish: My favorite colors are red and black, number is 3, foods – Mexican and cheeseburgers are guilty pleasures, but I also like fruits, nuts, vegetables...healthy stuff. Stephen King is my favorite author, I love the beach, and I dig horror/sci-fi/fantasy - in all formats.

Author N. A. Foy: What is the message that you want to give your fans as an example as a band? Is there anything else you’d like to add before we finish?

Tish: I just want people to listen. Watch our videos. I pour my soul into my music in hopes that it will have a positive impact on others. I think that's what we all want as artists. The world can be too much sometimes. I think all art forms provide much needed balance and peace.
