N. A. Foy: How old were you when you decided to pursue a career in music and was there any particular musicians or singers that inspired you?

Mery: I was 15 years old when I had my very first band in Granada (Spain). Afterwards, I performed as a musical singer, and during the same period, we created a new heavy metal and hard rock band. We were able to produce two demos. Back in 2008, I moved to Germany, and I began to sing with a cover band. Then in 2012, I found Envinya, my current band. They were looking for a new female singer, and we found each other 🙂

The most influential bands in my career were the following bands: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, DIO, Skunk Anansie, The Cranberries, Guano Apes, Evanescence, Nemesea, Within Temptation, Opeth, Doro, Iron Maiden, Anathema, Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, Sober, Heroes del Silencio, and Hamlet.

N .A. Foy: You started pretty young. Do you also have family members who play music?

Mery:  Not really, at least not professionally.

N. A. Foy:  Out of the lyrics so far, is there a particular one that you like the best? Is there a story behind it?

Mery:  I really like Outsider. It tells the story of a globetrotter who faces, during his trip, how difficult the world is, but at the same time, finding people who are eager to know more about him and his culture. Lots of people are experiencing such a situation today.

N. A Foy: I like the band name Envinya. I'm curious. What does Envinya mean? Is there a story behind the name?

Mery: The name comes from the elf, meaning "new beginning" or "change" in the sense of "turning to something new." I find that fits pretty well with our music. Nowadays, it is difficult to create something completely new. Everything was already there, but I am absolutely satisfied when we can create a sound that sounds like ENVINYA.

N. A. Foy: When you are not doing music, what do you like to do for fun?

Mery: I like to perform in Theatre places, dance, watch films, and meet with my friends.

N.A. Foy:  Are you hoping for Envinya to be a long term project? Where do you see the band in 5 years?

Mery: Yes, I hope so 😉 We are already planning a lot of things for the future. We are starting to work on our third LP. More news coming soon!

N.A. Foy: I look forward to hearing it. Do you do a lot of the song writing yourself?

Mery: Thank you. No, most are created stories. I have a lot of imagination. 😊

N. A. Foy: How about some favorites. What is your favorite color? Number? Foods? Movie(s)? Book(s)? Animal? Or any other favorites you want to mention?
