Interview with Forsakken

Interview with Genevieve from the Band Temtris

Bio (Taken from bands Facebook page):

Temtris formed in the year 2000 in Sydney with Wayne Campbell ( Formally from Mortal Sin) on Drums , Anthony Fox on Guitar and Genevieve Rodda on Vocals. Temtris was later joined with lew Smith on Guitar to record the first album Threshold in 2002. This album was self released and sold in limited quanities at shows only and is now currently unavailable.

In 2006 Gavin Swan joined Temtris to play bass and Tom Wallace was replacing Wayne on the drums. Temtris was back in the studio to record the second album Masquerade. This was released with worldwide distribution through Battlegod productions in 2007 and is currently sold out.

Temtris had some more member changes with Dale Green replacing Gavin on Bass in 2007 and later on James Rodwell taking up the Drum position from Tom.

Temtris continued to tour up and down the East Coast whilst writting material for the 3rd Album.

Unfortunately James could not commit anymore time to Temtris in 2010 and another drummer was to be found. Benjamin Hart was to complete the lineup and recording started on the 3rd Album Shallow Grave.

Temtris toured across Australia , playng shows in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

In 2013 Shallow Grave was almost complete and ready for release when Dale Green decided to leave Temtris . Adam Wootherspoon took over and the show went on with album number 3's launch at Sydneys Valve Bar on the 28th march 2014.

Temtris was proud to announce it had the support for "Accept" at the Factory theatre in Sydney in November of 2014. Playing to a sold out crowd of 800!

Benjamin Hart and Lew Smith decided to move on from Temtris after this show and follow other musical goals and Temtris was lucky enough to have orignal drummer Wayne Campbell back behind the kit in January of 2015 to start the writting of the 4th Album. Anthony Hoffman filled the 7 string duties on guitar and Temtris released the 4th studio album Enter the asylum in April of 2016 and toured it across Australia with a fantastic response.

In 2017 Temtris has moved forward with new members , Mitch joining us on Bass and Taso picking up the sticks behind the kit. This bringing an amazing band together going from strength to strength with song writing now underway for the 5th studio album and it will be a killer !

N. A. Foy: When was Temtris formed? How long have you been with the band?

Genevieve: Temtris was formed in the year 1999, and I have been there from the beginning.

N. A. Foy: How did the band originally come together?

Genevieve: We already had a band formed but we needed another GUITARIST. We wanted a band with a name that gave the female fronted vibe so we came up with name temtris and our new guitarist joined and he added the backing death vocals to our sound which was not as common back then. The original band has always had myself and Anthony Fox on guitar. We are the founding members.

N. A. Foy: What is the band currently working on?

Genevieve: We are currently writing our 5th album with hopes to release it early next year.

N. A. Foy: That is awesome. Do you do a lot of the song writing yourself?

Genevieve: I help with song structure and lot of the melody and lyrics.

N. A. Foy: How old were you when you decided to pursue a career in music and were there any particular musicians or singers that inspired you?

Genevieve: I joined my first band at 14 and new from the first show this was what I wanted to do. Bruce Dickinson is my main influence. Also Ronnie james Dio. Love that vocal style.

N. A. Foy: If you had only a few minutes in an elevator to describe your band, what would you say?

Genevieve: We are an energetic metal band with catchy riffs and big vocal lines that hook you in.

N. A. Foy: What are some things you like to do for enjoyment when you are not doing music?

Genevieve: I train Krav maga and also teach kids classes. I also like to run for fitness. We like to go and support other bands at their shows too.

N. A. Foy: Krav Maga is a martial art, am I correct? What subjects do you teach?

Genevieve: Yes it is. I teach the kids this and do a women’s class also. I work in a special needs school for a job. Not easy but I like it.

N. A. Foy: Sounds like an awarding job 🙂 If you were stuck on an island and somehow were able to listen to music, what 3 CDs would you want with you?

Genevieve: I would probably choose a Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and Flotsam and Jetsam album.

N. A. Foy: All great bands. Out of the lyrics you perform so far, is there a particular one that you like best? Is there a story behind it?

Genevieve: All our albums have stories or concepts. The latest album “Enter the Asylum” has a song written about each patient. “Empty Room” is my favourite from that album. It is about a person that feels like spirits talk to them and haunt them.

N. A. Foy: Us fans always like to know things about the band members. How about some favorites. What is your favorite color? Number? Foods? Movie(s)? Book(s)? Or any other favorites you want to mention?

Genevieve: Love the colour red. Favourite number is 8. Love vodka lol. Big fan of movies like Blade, Resident Evil, and Underworld. Lots more 😊

N. A. Foy: What is the message that you want to give your fans as an example as a person? Is there anything else you’d like to add before we finish?

Genevieve: Big thanks to the fans and people who take the time to check us and come to our shows. Next album is not too far away . 😊
